Lead A Peer Group

Dear NUEA Members:

We're BACK! We had such a great round of Peer Groups this spring/summer that we're setting up a special second round of Peer Groups in 2010! This second cycle of Peer Groups will meet between September and November, and we are currently looking for Peer Group leaders!

The purpose of the Peer Group is to provide a forum where NUEA members can learn from both the Peer Group Leader as well as their Peers, who are facing similar challenges.  Ultimately we hope you will make genuine connections on all levels, an invaluable resource in the entertainment field.  We're interested in helping newcomers to the Entertainment Industry, as well as individuals who want to reinvent themselves.

This special second round of Peer Groups will meet from September to November. Peer Groups typically meet with their Peer Group Leaders for three monthly meetings that are each 2-3 hours long.  Once the Peer Group has met on 3 occasions, we encourage the Peer Group to continue meeting as a support network without the Peer Group Leader.

If you are interested - whether for this round, for the future, or know someone who you think would be a great leader  - contact the NUEA Peer Group Chair Jackie Laine, at nueapeergroups@gmail.com or call her at 408-858-2704.

"Tales From the Trenches"

Come and spend an evening with the creators, showrunners and executive producers of shows like House, The Vampire Diaries, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Mercy and Pushing Daisies as they discuss the intricacies of running a show. This is not your typical "break into Hollywood" panel. This panel is geared toward working writers who aspire to be on the showrunner track.

These star-studded panelists will let you in on their secrets for dealing with staffing as well as the ins-and-outs of running a writer's room, diplomatic ways of handling network notes and actor demands, and the on-going dynamic between writers, studios, and networks.

Our stellar line-up of panelists include:

Liz Craft & Sarah Fain (The Vampire Diaries, Lie to Me, Dollhouse, Women's Murder Club, The Shield, Angel)

Russel Friend & Garrett Lerner (House M.D., LAX, Boston Public, John Doe, Roswell)

Bryan Fuller (Sellevision, Heroes, Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me)
Liz Heldens (Mercy, Friday Night Lights, Pepper Dennis)

Jason Katims (Parenthood, Friday Night Lights, Pepper Dennis, Boston Public, Roswell)

Aaron Harberts (moderator) & Gretchen Berg (Off the Map, Mercy, Pushing Daisies, Women's Murder Club, Pepper Dennis, Wonderfalls, John Doe, Roswell)

So come and share our good fortune and spend an evening you'll never forget. Bring a notebook!

Please RSVP quickly as this event is going to fill up fast! Send your RSVP to  RSVP@nueawest.org  and include your name and affiliation. Free to NUEA members, WGA members and ABC fellows. Guests of members: $15. Non-members $20.
